[ she has obtained for him: several bags of chips (a couple of "normal" flavors and also pick any two from this list) and some drinks. two of them are off-brand energy drinks.
[ it's an automatic nicety; it's been years since she's had to say it, but it still instinctively comes out of her as she steps inside. there is a moment where she pauses like ?should I take my shoes off? and then decides not to, even if it pains her. ]
Just because you had it worse doesn't mean you should have to grin and bear it.
[ it is possible he will someday find out she's a hypocrite when it comes to that, but for now, she's mildly scolding as she examines his face. ]
Beowulf's power really is in his fists, huh... okay.
[ Martha's out, Asclepius is out, Nightingale is definitely out... Medea Lily it is.
like with the last summon, she's only there for a few seconds, long enough to pass her hand over the bruise, leaving a cooling sensation and the brief scent of lilies. pain, pain, fly away! ]
[ she perks up a little, but visibly. 99% of the time it is not hard to read her at all. ??friendship?? ]
Ehh, are you the kind of guy who plays hooky for his physicals? One of my seniors used to do that. Apparently she used to make the doctor cry trying to chase her down.
My cooperation with their expectations depends entirely on how bored I may be on any given day. Sometimes, a visit to the alchemy commission is a convenient way out of unwanted busywork. Sometimes, I'd like to be working when they'd rather I be resting. I simply do as I please, one way or another.
I'm afraid that, by and large, aside from frequently-embellished tales of heroism and feats of tactical genius, my reputation is largely defined by my proclivity for sleeping in odd places...
[ she says it with a completely straight face. those are the stories but she is trying to make friends, not get into a fight on purpose. they can save it for the third time. ]
The weirdest place I fell asleep was the top of the Storm Border. Which is kind of a giant tank, don't worry too much about it.
[He'll accept this disengagement on the warfare topic. It's complicated. He'd probably agree with her in a lot of ways, but in the end it'd still be highly uncomfortable.]
Sometimes you just can't help it if you're tired, no?
[ you can't have the uncomfortable philosophical debates too early. it is better to be friendly first,
actually if Ritsuka had her preferences, she would rather not argue about it at all, but she also knows herself well enough to know it will almost certainly happen sometime. but she can make the conscious choice to avoid it for now. ]
Yeah... for me it's kind of like a light switch, though? I'm on, or I'm off.
Really? For me, it's... more of a matter of old age and boredom. But also, sometimes it's just a convenient talent to have, being able to sleep anywhere...
[Like how he tried to sleep his way out of the babyjail conversation--]
[ yeah, she raises an eyebrow at that like really? Is that what you're calling it? but nods as well. she is determined to find out how asleep is asleep for him sometime. there is a marker in her pocket right now, waiting. ]
I'm more like a battery than anything else, and sometimes I need to recharge whether I want to or not. It's gotten me out of meetings, but it usually lands me in the infirmary instead.

Also yeah his face is SO BRUISED.]
Thank you.
Re: EVENING 16
when she sees his face, she winces a little. ]
You bruise as badly as I do, huh...
Re: EVENING 16
[He laughs awkwardly as he steps back from the door to go set the snacks down.]
Come in, if you like.

Let me get a better look at your face?
Re: EVENING 16
[Once he's set everything down he sits on the edge of his bed. It brings him down to her level without awkwardly leaning over the whole time...]
It really isn't so bad. I was in considerably worse shape in the waking world.

Re: EVENING 16
I was simply pointing out that it wasn't a significant injury... and I heal more quickly than short-life species. But I do appreciate your concern.
Re: EVENING 16
[ or nurses. it is possible that Ritsuka's experience sample is skewed. ]
...Anyway. It was my fault, and no matter how fast you feel, something like that is even faster.
Re: EVENING 16
[He laughs a little, and tilts his head to smile at her with a distinctly mischievous twinkle in his eyes.]
However, my doctors at home are already exasperated with me, and I find it rather entertaining.

Is that so?

You shouldn't encourage children to run away from their doctors, General. You'll definitely make those doctors cry.
