[Though perhaps it's time to change teasing tactics. Jing Yuan stops scritching Dan Heng, and starts scritching Dan Feng instead. What was that about dignity?]
I am not jealous, [He says, jealously,] why would I bemmfgh--
[Dan Feng's eyes roll up to the heavens and he sort of crumples on Dan Heng, twitching like he can't decide whether to lean away or lean into that devilish hand.]
[It is a testament to his iron will (and his missing rib muscles) that Jing Yuan manages to only wheeze a shallow chuckle, rather than falling into raucous laughter. Once Dan Feng is down, Jing Yuan continues to scritch for a few seconds, and then stops and waits for the reaction.]
[Dan Feng makes a great impression of a betrayed cat at being dumped before sniffing haughtily and sitting up properly.]
Get the supplies, Heng'er. [He lists forward a little, but the hands that gently unwrap Jing Yuan's bandages are stable.] Ah. Did Sett tell either of you how exactly he came to be - hungry? He said something about being compelled.
He met a woman who was also a monster. When they made eye contact he saw a glimpse of her memories, and then fell under her control.
[As the bandages come off, Dan Feng can finally see the extent of the damage. That beast's great mouth had scraped along the left side of his ribs, removing a layer of skin and muscle but leaving the bones and everything between and below them entirely untouched. It's a substantial amount of flesh and blood lost, and the clear cause of his inability to draw a deep breath, but it's also an oddly delicate sort of bite. Not the loss of control that took that chunk from Dan Heng's arm, but a careful rending of flesh without causing a hair more damage than required to harvest it.]
This is clean. Sett tried his best; my injury is the same. [It feels odd to be trying to defend someone in Jing Yuan's presence. He curls his tail in Jing Yuan's lap, just for the contact, while snapping a finger and pointing to the antiseptic, for Dan Heng to hand to him.] Do not hold anything against him.
[Jing Yuan holds very still, wound stinging in the open air, and pets Dan Feng's uninjured tail as a means of comforting them both. He keeps an eye on Dan Heng, and braces to be scolded.]
It was my decision to offer myself, and he kept his mind throughout. It was quite peaceful, for what it was.
[BETRAYED LOOK AT JING YUAN WHY DID YOU BRING THAT UP??]
He - he could not help the hunger. [Mumbling, as he reaches for a pillow.] I could not just watch him suffer. You can bite on this, Yuan'er, the antiseptic will hurt.
Agreed. He was already so hurt by what he'd been made to do... In the interest of easing his emotional suffering and the potential suffering of unsuspecting prey, offering my consent was the best course of action. Better a careful bite of me than an uncontrolled mauling of someone else.
[He made a rational decision that definitely had nothing to do with a habit of reducing himself to just another chess piece when anyone/thing he loves is at risk.
He takes the pillow, but also looks at Dan Feng as if he's being a little silly. Jing Yuan can handle pain ok!! Like yeah he should bite down on something but what if instead he prioritized his dignity and made himself endure without ut??]
[Internally: Dan Feng is sweating bullets, because he very rarely hears Dan Heng assert himself like that.
Externally, he projects great smugness, mostly because Jing Yuan seems to be taking most of the heat, and with the two of them bullying him, he ought to do what they say.]
If you crack a tooth I will heal you whether you like it or not. [He uncaps the antiseptic.] Come now, Jing Yuan. It's just us.
[Oh shit he's actually in trouble now, huh? Dan Heng's tone startles him into behaving more than Dan Feng's threat, but regardless he shoots them both a longsuffering sigh and proceeds to simply cover his whole face with the pillow. This way he can behave and bite and also not deal with any relevant emotions.]
[unfortunately lack of inhibitions means he's not too polite to argue while he has made sure jing yuan's mouth is full.]
I fed him a deer. There was an incident, yes, but you're both smart and capable enough to hunt rather than intentionally feeding him bits of yourselves.
Re: done
[He is now applying scritches behind Dan Heng's ear.]
But Bailu provided the initial treatment, so I'm certain I won't die in the next fifteen minutes.
Re: done
But soon. We won't let you stay in them for long.
Re: done
Are you a dog? Why are you letting him scratch at you like this? It's undignified.
[Clearly it's Dan Heng's fault for accepting scritches and not Jing Yuan's for giving them.]
Re: done

Re: done
It's good. Don't be a brat just because you're jealous.
[they are AGREED.
but magnanimously permits the scritching to change targets.]

Re: done
Not jealous at all, hmm?
Re: done
Mmhmm?
Re: done
[He digs a pointy elbow into Dan Heng's ribs, before squinting at Jing Yuan.]
All right, enough. Bandages now, and then you sleep, because you are a stubborn brat.
Re: done
[a Classic Den Feng Doctor Voice!!]
Very well then. Who am I to flout an expert's advice?
Re: done
Right.
