[For his part, Jing Yuan has hastily flopped his little springtime duster on in the name of politeness, because he's not wearing a shirt. His ribs are wrapped in bandages, smeared by blood from Jing Yuan's hands as he gave himself first aid. The remains of his shirt are packed under the left side, though a few suspicious spots indicate that the blood has begun to soak through. This doesn't stop him from immediately crouching down and taking the duster off to press it against Dan Heng's wound.]

Aeons, Dan Heng. Do not apologise to me.

He didn't mean to... I'm the one who messed up.

[cringing from the aid, but accepting it. the pressure on his upper arm is something he hadn't managed to situate himself with one-handed, especially not while on the move. but hey, at least he still has the arm.

his semi-hazy gaze catalogues the shape jing yuan's in.]

I've had worse.

[He has very rarely had worse, but he is a soldier. Being impaled didn't stop him and neither will this. He clamps down on Dan Heng's arm, then shifts so he can get the intact arm around his neck and haul his dragon to his feet. This close, Dan Heng can hear the carefully repressed whimper of pain when he does, and the trembling of his breath.]

[cuts off. dead silent in his agony, but clumsily trying to carry his own weight as best he can.]

[Jing Yuan's breathing is shallow and strained, and his voice tight -- he sounds as though he can't truly fill his lungs, but he's still determined to get Dan Heng home safe.]

Helping you is always worth the pain.
